Maharashtra Nav Nirman Sena (MNS) leader Raj Thackeray on Monday suffered a setback with the Supreme Court clearing the way for his prosecution by the Jharkhand police for allegedly inflammatory speeches targeted at people from Bihar, Jharkhand and north India.
The statue of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Bahujan Samajwadi Parrty supremo Mayawati was vandalised by alleged Nav Nirman Sena activists in Gomti Nagar area in Lucknow. They also distributed visuals of the statue being broken.
A First Investigation Report was lodged on Wednesday against the Maharashtra Nav Nirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray at Bahera police station for initiating a case of sedition, on the directions of a local court in Darbhanga.
Condemning the alleged incidents of harassment of Kashmiris, the home minister said they are like any other Indian and an advisory is being sent by the home ministry to all states to ensure the safety and security of people from the Valley.
